EXHIBITION + INSTILLATION
HER PERSPECTIVE EXHIBITION
ACADEMY OF MUSIC, ACTING AND THEATRE ARTS, PENRYN CAMPUS
Self-organised between myself, Lauren Andrews and Rhys Harrison, the exhibition featured a sculpture installation and paintings from my work, and a public screening of Lauren Andrew's final term film entitled 'Supernova', starring Aïda Knipp with creative direction by me.
The exhibition ran for two consecutive evenings with a positive reception by those who visited and viewed the work displayed. Coinciding with International Women's Day, Lauren and I aimed to have the exhibition be a show of female empowerment within the artistic industry, with underlying themes of mental health and perceptions of oneself.
MAENPORTH COASTAL PATH, CORNWALL
Temporary open-air instillation using various colours and thicknesses of tape to create abstract barriers within the void spaces that trees leave.
'Branches' (right), links the many branches growing, mimicking the movement of both wind and people climbing the tree. The red tape is both representative and restrictive - a free playground to climb is closed off by a simple thin line.
'Trunks' (below), incorporated two white bags that like the tape with 'Branches', moved profusely in the strong coastal wind, to both a visual and acoustic effect. The beaten-track between the two trees attracted me for this instillation site, to create an informal barrier where there was an informal path in nature with synthetic materials.
Both instillations were sustainably removed within the day of installing them to ensure no wildlife was harmed.
